The 1939 New York World's Fair was an event held in the Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in New York City on Earth in the years 1939 and 1940. The Perisphere and Trylon were built for this fair.

The fair opened on 30 April 1939, the 150th anniversary of George Washington's inauguration as the first President of the United States.

In 1940, Benny Russell attended the 1939 New York World's Fair. Entertainers who performed at the fair included the Marx Brothers, Abbott and Costello and Bill "Bojangles" Robinson. (DS9 novelization: Far Beyond the Stars)
