• The New York Yankees would field a team later considered by some to be the best in the history of baseball. ^[3]

The Yankees would, in fact, win the World Series that year - though the accolades mentioned in "Past Tense" are more often imbued on the '98 club. which, including postseason, won more games than any other team before or since.
