• A USS Farragut survey mission, and later the ship herself, are attacked by a dikironium cloud creature on Tycho IV. Some 200 crew, including Captain Stephen Garrovick, are killed. Lieutenant James Kirk assumes command and sets a course for the nearest starbase. ^{[1] [2]}
