Famed businessman and philanthropist Carter Winston disappears while on a voyage in his one-man starship. ^[2]
Parathu'ul applies for Federation membership, but is turned down. ^[3]
The USS Intrepid discovers a Fabrini probe and makes contact with the Shesshran. ^[4]

Promotions and transfersEdit

Lieutenant Commander Spock is promoted to first officer aboard the USS Enterprise. ^[1]

Cadet Pavel Chekov is assigned to the Enterprise for navigation training. ^[1]
Janice Rand is signed as a Yeoman for the Starfleet services department and eventually is dispatched to the Enterprise as Captain James T. Kirk's personal yeoman. ^[1]
