492 Lyncis is a subdwarf star of the spectral class G2 among the stars visible from Earth in the constellation of Lynx. 492 Lyn. (1,217 light years distant from Sol) is home to a star system with at least three planets, including the planet Hera. (TNG novel: Infiltrator)

The star's name has the notation of a Flamsteed designated star, with a numeral and the constellation's genitive name. However, no stars with this high a numeral have been so named in "real life".
