The AK-74 was an Earth projectile weapon from the Soviet Union, an update over widely used and well-spread AK-47 and AKM assault rifles.

History and specifications

It is a sturdy and relable select-fire rifle, using long-stroke gas operated mechanics and firing 5,45mm high-velocity rounds fed from 30 or 45 rounds plastic magazine.
This rifle was used in the late 20th and early 21st century by the Soviet Union, the post-Soviet Russian Federation and many former Soviet Bloc countries.

A slightly updated version, known as AK-74M was implemented in early 1990s and became the standard-issue of the Russian armed forces well into the 21st century.

In 1986, the guards outside of Lenin's Tomb were holding AK-74 rifles when Anastasia Komananov went by. (TOS novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 1)
