Aberdeen was a city on Earth, located on the northeastern coast of Scotland.

Famed Starfleet officer Montgomery Scott spent a good part of his youth in Aberdeen. The Aberdeen Solution, an engineering feat performed by Scott refers to the city of Aberdeen. (TOS novel: The Kobayashi Maru)

Scott would later recall the fog in the city, and that he was an old Aberdeen pub crawler. (TOS episode: "Wolf in the Fold")

When Caldos II was terraformed, it was engineered by design to resemble the highlands of Scotland. In keeping with the Scottish theme of the colony, many of the colony's buildings had cornerstones from buildings located in Aberdeen. (TNG episode: "Sub Rosa")
