Abraxas IX was a Romulan colony planet located at the edge of Romulan space.
Commander Valak was born and raised on Abraxas IX, where his father raised him to hunt the dangerous animal life form called the syrinx. Lord Darok, who was Praetor of the Romulan Star Empire in 2368, visited Abraxas IX in pursuit of hunting the dangerous animal. (TNG novel: The Romulan Prize)
