Achernar was a code-named that was used by a Romulan trader in the 23rd century.

In 2280, Achernar was contacted by Praetor Tahn and ordered him to track down and retrieve items that had been stolen from him by a secret Romulan organization known as Ten. Unfortunately, he was captured by the USS Enterprise before doing so. (TOS novel: The Pandora Principle)
