Aela was a female Human who lived in the 24th century. Aela was a member of the Maquis in the 2370s and was known to be among the more extreme members of the group.

In 2371, Aela posed as a member of the Starfleet crew of Deep Space 9 in an attempt to assassinate Gul Engor and disrupt the peace between the Federation and the Cardassians. Aela was stopped by Miles O'Brien and Ro Laren before she could destroy Deep Space 9. (DS9 comic: "Friend and Foe Alike")
