The akaana boar is a type of animal from the planet Jervis within Romulan space. The akaana boar is banned from import by Federation law. However it is similar to the Frednorian boar, which is a legal species.
One such Akaana, part of the second shipment, was tagged as a Frednorian in the Preserve as a result it died of malnutrition as the Watchers were given the wrong instructions on what they should feed it.
Consultant Iydia did not report the mistagging as he felt that it was in the interest of science that he could study it. Of course, he arranged for the mistagging in the first place and got his friend Aramut to deliver the shipments of animals for the Preserve as per his recommendations. (TNG video game: A Final Unity)
