Akril class

The Akril-class was a type of starship used by the Cardassian Union in the 24th century, used in a variety of roles from planetary survey to combat. It was a frequently-encountered class in the middle decades of the century, becoming rarer as it was replaced by more advanced types such as the Galor-class. Even so, enough examples of the class remained operational or in storage by the time of the Dominion War that the Dominion instituted an upgrade program for the class to incorporate Dominion technology. In terms of relative strength, a single Klingon Bird-of-Prey was no match for an original Akril, but a competently-led squadron of three would likely defeat it. (TLE novel: The Art of the Impossible)
