Lieutenant Akrumba was a 23rd century member of Starfleet who served as junior officer of the Federation starship USS Enterprise under the command of Captain James T. Kirk in the 2260s. In 2267, he was a junior bridge officer, fully rated to serve shifts as relief helmsman. Akrumba was called to cover the helm during Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu's landing party duty on the planets of the Horatian system. (TOS novel: Mission to Horatius)

Akrumba was not specified as a lieutenant or lieutenant junior grade, but for the purposes of displaying his insignia here, the more common lieutenant's braid is shown.
