Alamo model

Miles O'Brien's model of the Alamo

The Alamo was a compound located in San Antonio, Texas on Earth. Originally constructed by the Spanish as a religious mission, the Alamo later served as a fortress during the early 19th century.

From February 23 to March 6, 1836, the Alamo was the site of a conflict between the Republic of Texas and the nation-state of Mexico. During these 13 days, a group of people held off several thousand Mexican troops under the command of General Antonio López de Santa Anna. This group included people such as William B. Travis and Davy Crockett. The Alamo's defenders were ultimately defeated, and nearly everyone at the Alamo died. The Alamo became a rallying cry to the people of Texas.

In the 2370s, Doctor Julian Bashir and Chief Miles O'Brien became fascinated with the Battle of the Alamo, and the people who died defending the fort. The two men participated in several holosuite recreations of the battle, and the two men built a scale model of the battle. O'Brien and Bashir discussed visiting the real Alamo at some point. (DS9 episodes: "Once More Unto the Breach", "The Changing Face of Evil", "What You Leave Behind")
