Alfred Tennyson (August 6, 1809 - October 6, 1892) was a human poet native to Earth in the 19th century.

In 2156, Colin Idaho recalled one of Tennyson's poems talking about battle. (ENT novel: Beneath the Raptor's Wing)

In 2374, Lieutenant Dr. Julian Bashir and Senior Chief Petty Officer Miles O'Brien quoted the third stanza of Tennyson's poem "The Charge of the Light Brigade" before a Starfleet battle group engaged Dominion and Cardassian forces during Operation Return. In 2383, Benjamin Sisko read Tennyson's Ulysses when the medical equipment that had been keeping Elias Vaughn alive for two years was deactivated. (ST - Typhon Pact novel: Raise the Dawn)
