The Alpha Jem'Hadar, Alphas for short, were Jem'Hadar created in the Alpha Quadrant. The Dominion bred them specifically to combat the Alpha and Beta Quadrant species while reinforcements from the Bajoran wormhole were cut off. There were tensions between the Gamma Quadrant-created Jem'Hadar and the Alpha Quadrant-created Jem'Hadar. (DS9 episode: "One Little Ship")
The Alpha Jem'Hadar were also referred to as "Alphans." (ST website : StarTrek.com)
History[]
In the year 2374, the Alphas were genetically engineered to fight against Alpha Quadrant species. They believed themselves to be superior to the Gammas, whereas the Gammas opined the Alphas had yet to prove themselves in battle. The friction was epitomized in the relation between First Kudak'Etan and his Second, the Gamma Ixtana'Rax. Kudak'Etan said the Alphas demonstrated their loyalty through actions rather than words, and was more willing to take independent action to advance his goals. The first significant combat action was the brief capture of the Federation Defiant-class warship USS Defiant, led by Kudak'Etan. The mission was an utter failure, as Starfleet was able to retake the Defiant. (DS9 episode: "One Little Ship")
In 2386 the Alpha Jem'Hadar's First was Lamat'Ukan. The next year, the Alphas took control of Devos II, placing a base near a production facility for ketracel-white. The Jem'Hadar also increased the capabilities of the facility in order to produce more of the white. The Jem'Hadar made no further movement. (ST website : The Path to 2409)
In 2409, Gul Kardek of the Cardassian terrorist organization True Way attempted to form an alliance with the Alpha Jem'Hadar. He dispatched Gul Pulat to meet Dumat'Zukan in the Devos II factory. An Allied starship attacked the factory during the meeting and detonated it with charges, dealing a severe blow to the Alpha Jem'Hadar. (STO - Cardassian Struggle mission: "The Factory")
The Allies encountered Lamat'Ukan commanding more Alphas in the Orias system. Lamat'Ukan was killed by the Allied away team and his forces at Orias III defeated. The Vorta Neman, rescued from the Devos II factory, led the Allies to the New Link to convince them one of their own, Laas, had lied to them about the extermination of the Great Link by the solids. The Changeling Leader accepted the revelation and declared the Orias system off-limits to everyone but the New Link and their servants. Neman became the new Vorta intermediary betwen the New Link and the Alphas. (STO - Cardassian Struggle mission: "The New Link")
