Alpha Onias III was a class M planet located in Federation territory near the Romulan Neutral Zone. A young aien child named Barash was hidden on Alpha Onias III by his mother, after their homeworld was attacked by unknown foes in the mid 24th century. Barash's shelter was equipped with a network of neural scanners that could, like a holodeck, create environments to keep Barash safe and entertained. (TNG episode: "Future Imperfect")

After Barash left Alpha Onias III to live in the Federation, a team from Starbase 718 returned to the planet to investigate the technology there, and to search for clues as to Barash's origins. Unfortunately, they found no conclusive evidence. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace)
