An Altairian frog is a type of amphibian native to the Altair star system. Like other types of frogs, they are common pets among children in the Federation.

Their slick skin is rather unique in color, having red and blue spots, along with orange stripes. They have a tendency to climb humanoid legs, mistaking them for tree branches.

In 2364, Oliver T. Hutchins, Jr., a child aboard the USS Enterprise-D lost his pet Altairian frog when it escaped into the starship's ventilation system during a "show-and-tell" presentation in Mrs. Kramer's school at 0900 hours.
