The Altonian brain teaser is a difficult puzzle game that has existed for at least four hundred years as of 2371. The user attempts to add texture to the sphere by focusing their neural theta waves. Several of the hosts of Dax have often attempted to beat it.

In 2369, Jadzia Dax was using an Altonian brain teaser in one of Quark's holosuites and showed Julian Bashir how to play, although his "busy" mind meant the sphere disintegrated. (DS9 episode: "A Man Alone")
