Amaar was a 23rd century Rhaandarite who served Starfleet as a technician, assigned to Federation starship USS Enterprise in the 2270s.

Amaar accompanied Admiral James T. Kirk, Commander Spock, Doctor Leonard McCoy, Lieutenant Commander Hikaru Sulu and the Andorian biophysicist Theras on a landing party that boarded the derelict USS Endeavor. On the Endeavor bridge, while Amaar was playing back the ship's log in an attempt to learn what had killed the crew, a strange cloud of energy surrounded Theras, who went berserk. Theras shot and dematerialized Amaar with his phaser. (TOS comic: "Experiment in Vengeance!")
