The Amber Star was a Cardassian volunteer civilian organization within the Cardassian Union that held no political ties to any group, including the Cardassian government.

In late 2374, three supposed representatives of the Amber Star (Leej Terrell, Dr. Phraim Betan and Atrig) traveled to Deep Space 9 aboard a neutral cruiser, in order to repatriate the remains of three Cardassian soldiers who had died on the station during the Occupation of Bajor.
