Amoreena Hardin was a female Human serving in the Federation Starfleet as an officer in the 23rd century. A lieutenant in 2251, she briefly became chief of security aboard the USS Enterprise upon the death of Benjamin Tuvall aboard the Orion marauder Karkon's Wing. (TOS novel: The Children of Kings)
Harden graduated Starfleet Academy in 2246. She served the first two years of her career at Starfleet Headquarters and two years aboard the USS Katyn, receiving commendations for bravery. Pike was unsure if she had spent the fifth year of her career with the Federation ambassador to Andoria or Gandor, but once she came aboard the Enterprise to serve as deputy security officer, she received rave appraisals by Commander Tuvall, her direct superior. Her commanding officer, Christopher Pike, was unsure of her, however, and his reticence was shared by Number One, Enterprise's executive officer.
Hardin became security chief after Tuvall's death and the apparent murder of Captain Pike. Hardin wanted to join Pike in his mission aboard the shuttlecraft Galileo, even punching Kritos, a Klingon warrior, to prove her resilience and strength. She joined the mission with acting Enterprise captain Dmitri Vlasidovich's blessing, but once aboard Karkon's Wing betrayed Captain Pike and Kritos, helping to steal the Black Snow cloaking device. She was killed aboard the Galileo when the cloaking device malfunctioned, destroying the shuttle. (TOS novel: The Children of Kings)
Appearance and personalityEdit
Hardin was described as skinny and considered by Captain Pike to be "just a kid", but she had confidence in her physical strength, evidenced by her punching a Klingon officer, and her abilities. She was also concerned that Captain Pike's tendency towards expecting the superhuman of himself would jeopardize a mission, a view Pike grudgingly respected. Her tenacity in dealing with Kritos began to change Pike's opinion of her. Her betrayal and subsequent death prevented their professional relationship from developing any further. (TOS novel: The Children of Kings)
