The Apnex Sea is a body of water located on Romulus and lies off the coast of the capital city of Ki Baratan. (TTN novel: Taking Wing)

During the time of the First Rihannsu, creatures known to the Romulans as in'hhui'lasendt resided in the sea. Their glandular sections served as a "cheap" source of power to them. By the 2150s, they had been extinct for several millennia. (ENT novel: Beneath the Raptor's Wing)

Prior to his defection to the Federation in 2366, Admiral Alidar Jarok resided near the Apnex Sea. (TNG episode: "The Defector")
