Apollo 11 was the name of the mid-20th century mission that first landed Humans on the surface of Luna.

Overview[]

Apollo 11 patch

assignment patch

Apollo 11 included two spacecraft: the command module, Columbia, and the lunar module, Eagle. On 20 July 1969, the Eagle landed at Tranquility Base, and Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to set foot on an alien surface. Along with Columbia pilot Michael Collins, these astronauts became international heroes on Earth following the successful completion of the mission. (Historical records; ST reference: Star Charts)

Armstrong and Aldrin collected 50 pounds of moon rocks for study on Earth. (The Classic UK Comics, Volume 3)

Legacy[]

In 2154, Captain Jonathan Archer and Daniels saw an image of Armstrong and Aldrin walking on the Moon in the time stream as the timeline reset itself. (ENT episode: "Storm Front")

The lower stage of the Eagle was preserved in place during subsequent Human development of Luna, and eventually became the centerpiece of Tranquility Park. (TOS novel: Prime Directive)

In the 24th century, the Apollo 11 mission was recreated to celebrate its 400th anniversary in 2369. (Star Trek Magazine Issue 162: "Blast Off!")

Information about Apollo 11, including the Saturn V rocket, was on display in the USS Enterprise-E's library during its mission in the Briar Patch in 2375. (Star Trek: Insurrection magazine "Novel Graphics")

In 2376, Elias Vaughn experienced viewing the Apollo 11 plaque that Armstrong left behind on Luna while in the Inamuri thoughtscape. Vaughn wondered how lonely Collins must have felt aboard Columbia. (DS9 - Mission Gamma novel: Twilight)
