Arecibo was a city in Puerto Rico on Earth, and was the location of the world's largest radio telescope.

The observatory at Arecibo was one T'Lera and Sorahl were conscious of avoiding when secretly leaving Earth in 2045 aboard an old DY-100 sleeper ship. (TOS novel: Strangers from the Sky)
