The Argelians were a humanoid species native to the planet Argelius II (which they called Nelpha) in the Alpha Quadrant. Members of the species generally only had one name.

The Argelians were once a violent people, until a major social upheaval in 2067, which turned the violence of Argelius II to peace and pleasure. The Argelian passion for pleasure was so strong they even imported administrators and officials to rule the world whilst the Argelians enjoyed themselves. (ST reference: The Worlds of the Federation)
The Argelians' peace was disturbed in 2267, when two women were murdered by a being called Redjac. (TOS episode: "Wolf in the Fold")
