The Argus sector is a region of space in the galaxy. It is a neutral sector near Federation territory in the Alpha Quadrant and contains locations visible from Earth in the Sagitta constellation.

History and specifics[]

The sector was named for the star in the Argus system. (Argus sector article at StarTrek.com.)

It was a neutral sector which also contained the Omega Sagitta system. (STO mission: "Reckoning")

The sector lacked an extradition law with the Federation, making it a safe haven for Harry Mudd. (TOS comic: "It's a Living")

In the 23rd century, the starship USS Enterprise visited the sector twice. (TOS episode & Star Trek 9 novelization: Obsession, TOS comic: "It's a Living")

In 2274, the Argus IV creature, a planet-sized cosmozoan, was born in the sector. (TOS comic: "It's a Living")

In 2365, the USS Enterprise-D visited the sector. At the time, at least portions of it were under the authority of the Legation of Unity and Coalition of Madena. (TNG episode: "The Outrageous Okona")

In 2370, William T. Riker postponed the Enterprise-D's assigned mission in the sector to investigate the apparent death of Jean-Luc Picard on Dessica II. (TNG episode: "Gambit")
