Arm wrestling is a sport with two participants in which the participants place one arm on a surface, with their elbows bent and touching the surface, and they grip each other's hand. In order to win a participant must pin the other's arm onto the surface, with the winner's arm over the loser's arm. Humans, Klingons, and the Tizarin were among the species known to participate in arm wrestling.

The Tizarin leader Grazinus was fond of the sport, and would often challenge others to arm wrestle, much to the irritation of his wife. When Grazinus challenged Enterprise Captain Jean-Luc Picard to arm wrestle, his wife quickly rescued Picard from having to arm wrestle with the man. (TNG novel: Q-in-Law)

Klingons also enjoyed arm wrestling, but placed d'k tahgs on the playing surface. As a result the loser would be cut by the weapon when his arm was forced to the playing surface. (TNG episode: "Redemption")
