Athena Palamas was the daughter of Carolyn Palamas and the advanced being Apollo.
Biography[]
Official records showed that Carolyn had a normal pregnancy, and that Athena was born on Camus II in 2268. (NF novel: Being Human)
An alternate account described the unusual birth of a male child. He initially manifested as a non-corporeal entity, chose the image of Apollo as its avatar, and was born aboard the USS Enterprise in 2267 less than one day after conception. He and his mother transferred to Earth Colony 9 shortly afterward. (TOS comic: "Of Woman Born")
According to James T. Kirk‘s autobiography, she named her child Troilus. (TOS Novel: “The Autobiography of James T. Kirk”)
In 2270, Carolyn served aboard Science Station 187 in orbit of Gateway. During her work shifts, her son was cared for in the outpost's daycare facility. (TOS comic: "An Unexpected Yesterday")
According to official records of the late 24th century, Carolyn died on Camus II in 2269 (NF novel: Gods Above), and Athena was sent to live with her aunt on Earth. Her early years were marred by constant observation and tests by Starfleet Medical to confirm if she had any god-like abilities that had been exhibited by her father. No such powers were found, and she was allowed to live a normal life, having many children and grandchildren. Palamas' great-grandson was Starfleet officer Mark McHenry. (NF novel: Being Human)
- The son in the New Visions comics and the daughter in the New Frontier novels are intended to be the same person. Although they seem to be contradictory sources, gender swapping did occur among the gods of Greek mythology and could have happened in this case, particularly given the unknown nature of Beings' reproduction.
