For the mirror universe counterpart, see Atish Khatami (mirror).

Atish Khatami was a 23rd century Human woman, a Starfleet officer of Persian descent who served on the Constitution-class USS Endeavour in the 2260s decade. Her husband, Kenji, and daughter, Parveen, reside on Deneva.

Biography[]

In 2265, she was a Commander, serving as the Endeavour's first officer under Captain Zhao Sheng. In that year, she led an away team to the planet Erilon on Lieutenant Ming Xiong information, where science officer Stephen Klisiewicz discovered a second source of the Taurus meta-genome and Shedai technology. (VAN novel: Harbinger)

Later that year, when Captain Zhao was killed on Erilon by the Shedai Wanderer, Khatami was promoted to Captain. She was at first insecure in her new role but slowly grew into it. (VAN novel: Summon the Thunder)

Khatami's comment "Allah be praised" may indicate that she is a follower of the Terran religion of Islam.

Under her command, the Endeavour visited Certoss Ajahlan during surveys of the Taurus Reach in 2267 and made contact with the Certoss. (TOS novel: From History's Shadow)

Prior to her service aboard the Endeavour, Khatami served as First Officer of the USS Perseus, where she learned and refined the art of delegating authority and mentoring her subordinates rather than micromanage them, and her lessons were reinforced under Captain Zhao. (Seekers novel: All That's Left)

In approximately February 2270, the Endeavour's stardrive section was destroyed and the saucer section was able to make a controlled landing on an asteroid during a mission to the Federation-Klingon Neutral Zone to recover three Federation undercover operatives. After their rescue by the USS Enterprise, Captain Khatami and her crew were taken to Starbase 24 to await reassignment or see if the Endeavour was salvageable. (TOS novel: Agents of Influence)
