The Autarch of the Tzenkethi Coalition is the head of state and head of government for the Tzenkethi.

Some believed Elim Garak's Obsidian Order mission on Tzenketh was to help overthrow the two hundred and nineteenth Tzenkethi Autarch. (DS9 novel: Hollow Men)

In 2371, a Founder posing as a Federation ambassador attempted to start a war between the Federation and the Tzenkethi by convincing the USS Defiant to set a course for Tzenketh, telling the crew that the Autarch had been overthrown. The crew were able to regain control of the Defiant before it attacked the Tzenkethi. (DS9 episode: "The Adversary")

In 2374, Federation Starfleet Captain Jean-Luc Picard attempted to convince the Autarch to ally the Tzenkethi Coalition with the Federation during the Dominion War. (TNG novel: Immortal Coil)
