Avrak was a male Romulan in the 23rd and 24th centuries. He was the "sister-son" (nephew) and heir to Senator Pardek, and the patron of Ruanek of House Minor Strevon.
Appearance[]
Uhura thought Avrak looked like a real aristocrat who knew he was worth looking at, as his pale skin, meticulously-cut dark hair, high cheekbones, commandingly arched nose and nearly-ridiculously well-arched eyebrows made him look more patrician than most Romulans. (TOS novel: Vulcan's Forge)
Personality[]
Avrak was reluctant to supply his name to strangers upfront. Uhura pegged him as a cultured person due to his references to ancient Romulan battle epics. Avrak could get rude or overconfident in social situations in which he felt he had an upper hand and seemed to enjoy playing games and verbally sparring with adversaries who made such encounters interesting. He made his initial attraction and admiration towards Uhura plain in his reactions and actions. Avrak was not above using people if it furthered his own plans, and Uhura got the impression that he’d fight to the death to regain his dignity if he were to lose too much face. However, Avrak could be made to swallow his own pride or even cooperate to some extent with an enemy if doing so would benefit or protect him or the loyal warriors under his command. (TOS novel: Vulcan's Forge)
Biography[]
As of 2296, Avrak held the rank of Commander, and commanded the Warbird IRW Adamant. That year, he was part of a covert plot using a Vulcan dissident, Sered, to force Starfleet off of the unaligned world of Obsidian. The Adamant was held off, though, by the USS Intrepid II under Commander Nyota Uhura. (TOS novel: Vulcan's Forge)
By 2344, Avrak had become a member of the Romulan Senate. (TOS novel: Vulcan's Heart)
