The B-24 Liberator was an American heavy bomber used by the allied forces during World War II. It was created by Consolidated Aircraft.
While trapped in 1942, Pavel Chekov led a squadron of Russian Yakovlev YAK-1 fighters to escort a B-24 Liberator piloted by John Kirk to Sweden where the Royal Air Force would be waiting for them. Kirk's B-24 was carrying the American diplomat Averell Harriman who needed to reach London. (TOS novel: Home Is the Hunter)
