Ballor was a 23rd century inhabitant of the planet Beta Epsilon VI who served in his pre-warp civilization's military forces.

Biography[]

In the 2280s decade, Ballor served as a military commander for his faction in a civil war against another faction led by General Decton.

In the year 2285, an escape pod crashed in the midst of battle, seen as portentous by the combatants. When Starfleet Captain Philip Hodges emerged from the pod, he was hailed as a deity, ending the war. Ballor and Decton became Hodges' adjutants.

Later that year, a landing party led by Rear Admiral James T. Kirk arrived to recover Hodges. He unexpectedly rebuffed them, however, fearing civil war would resume when he left. That proved accurate, as Decton invited Ballor to meet him secretly that evening, where they conspired to make Hodges a martyr for war.

Ballor recruited a number of former soldiers, then killed a sentry, kidnapped Hodges, and hid out in some caverns. When the landing party tracked them and approached, a formation of Ballor's soldiers defended the cavern's entrance with volleys of arrows. But with combat skills and their phasers, the landing party overpowered them. Hodges' wife Lylla raced ahead and found Ballor holding a sword to Hodges' throat. She dove between them and got stabbed. Saavik and William Bearclaw quickly disintegrated Ballor with their phasers before he could kill Hodges. (TOS comic: "Mortal Gods")
