A barge was a seafaring or spacefaring vessel.

History and specifics[]

A bazaar on the Xanthan planet was the Xanthan floating bazaar. In the 2150s decade, the floating bazaar was made from barges moored together. One of them was Barge 12. (ENT episode: "Rajiin")

Barges were a common sight on Bajor's Yolja River in the 24th century. (DS9 novel: Bajor: Fragments and Omens)

In 2373, female Q identified the Federation Intrepid-class starship USS Voyager as a rickety barge. (VOY episode: "The Q and the Grey")

In 2374, during the Dominion War, Benjamin Sisko learned that the Dominion had seized a Federation storage barge and was using it to store supplies of ketracel-white near the Argolis Cluster. With Jadzia Dax commanding the USS Defiant on a mission also in the Argolis Cluster to destroy a Dominion sensor array, Sisko drew up a plan to attack the barge and draw Jem'Hadar ships away from defending the sensor array. A fleet of five ships, the IKS Rotarran, the USS Centaur, the USS Lyric, the USS Traynor and the IKS K'lashm'a attacked the barge, which was ultimately not destroyed. (DS9 novel: Sacrifice of Angels)
