Barnard's Star (also known as V2500 Ophiuchi) is a star system, a binary star in the space of the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant

This binary consists of two type M red stars located about 1.8 parsecs (5.9 light years) from Earth, where it is visible in the constellation of Ophiuchus. Barnard's Star lies in Sector 001, in the general vicinity of Beta Comae Berenices and Sol. (ST references: Spaceflight Chronology, Star Charts)

In the 2370s, Federation manufacturing satellites were located near Barnard's Star. (DS9 novel: The Laertian Gamble)
