History and specifics[]

In 2267, Prince Raviki, having grown fond of Montgomery Scott, said that he would name him a baron or a duke if he stayed on Nukolee. (TOS comic: "A World Gone Mad")

In 2269, Trelane called himself a baron as part of his newfound fascination with Earth's World War I. (TOS video game: Judgment Rites mission: No Man's Land)

By the late 2270s, Commander Amalia, an officer in Starfleet, had been awarded the title of baroness, and was referred to as "Baroness Commander". (TOS - Star Trek II Short Stories short story: "The Blaze of Glory")
