- For the primary universe counterpart, see Baxial.
In the mirror universe, the Baxial was a Talaxian starship, a Drexia-class freighter in civilian service in the 24th century. Its commanding officer was Captain Neelix. (VOY - Mirror Universe novel: The Mirror-Scaled Serpent)
History[]
In one permutation of the mirror universe, Neelix had dealings with a Kazon sect, the Kazon-Ogla. During the final visit of the Kazon at Ocampa V in 2371, Neelix rescued his Ocampan lover Kes from an Ogla camp, and they escaped in the Baxial. The Kazon damaged the Talaxian ship during their relentless pursuit. The Caretaker moved the Baxial to the Alpha Quadrant, where they ran into the Terran Rebellion. The Baxial broke apart in the Badlands but Neelix was rescued by the resistance cell of Chakotay. Unfortunately, the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance captured Kes, and she was delivered to Intendant B'Elanna of Ardana. Neelix later joined the Terran Rebellion's ranks and continued to fight against the Alliance. (VOY - Mirror Universe novel: The Mirror-Scaled Serpent)
In another permutation of the mirror universe, the Dread Ship Baxial was a formidable ship under the command of Captain Neelix, and included a ruthless Kes who had mastered her telekinetic powers. The Baxial trailed the course of the Intrepid-class ISS Voyager, a Terran ship commanded by the self-proclaimed Pirate Queen of the Delta Quadrant, Kathryn Janeway, since it arrived in the Delta Quadrant in 2372.
In 2373, the Baxial pursued a Terran Type-9 shuttlecraft. Voyager fired on the Baxial to break its tractor beam hold on the shuttle and seized the prize. When the Doctor and Annika Hansen mutinied against Janeway and attempted to take over Voyager, the pirate queen allowed Neelix and Kes to board the ship. Kes used her powers to overthrow the Doctor and Hansen. Neelix restored the holographic doctor to his original parameters and woke Janeway up, telling her he would keep Voyager. Having anticipated this eventuality would come about someday, Janeway engaged Protocol 7. The Doctor appeared, incapacitated Kes, and both members of the Baxial crew were incarcerated in the brig. Hansen began plotting with Neelix, while Janeway assumed the rank of commodore, and promoted her first officer Chakotay to captain, giving him command of the Baxial. With two ships under her control, Commodore Janeway opted to find and plunder the Borg. (VOY comic: "Mirrors & Smoke")
