"Behind Enemy Lines!" is a Star Trek: The Original Series comic published by DC Comics in 1985. The comic was written by Mike W. Barr, with art by Tom Sutton and Ricardo Villagran. It is the fourteenth comic in DC's first TOS comic series, and the sixth part of the New Frontiers story-arc. The title refers to two plots in the issue: The Spocks taking the Bird-of-Prey into Klingon space, and the Excelsior crew's rescue mission to a Terran prison.

Appendices[]

Background[]

  • This issue shows the Bird-of-Prey firing while still under cloak, which is curiously inconsistent with The Search for Spock which established the vessel and its capabilities, including its having to decloak before firing. It is similarly inconsistent with later stories, notably The Undiscovered Country, where a Bird-of-Prey being able to fire while cloaked was a notable and exceptional tactical advantage.
  • The Klingon homeworld in the mirror universe is identified as Kash in this issue, as opposed to the later widely used Qo'noS.

Related stories[]

  • New Frontiers (TOS comic miniseries) - This is the sixth part of the New Frontiers story arc, continuing on from the previous issue with the story opening with the Excelsior under attack from the Terran Empire fleet. The story continues into the next two issues with the Klingon alliance established in this issue allowing the Excelsior crew to fight back against the Terrans.
