Caldos (also known as Beta Octantis) was a class A9IV-V light blue star located in the space claimed by the Federation government in the galaxy's Beta Quadrant. The star was located in proximity to Iota Crucis, Gamma Hydra and Deep Space 6, near an arm of the Romulan Star Empire. Caldos was known to Humans as being visible from Earth in the Octans constellation, about 140 light-years distant.
The Caldos star system was the location of the planet Caldos II, the home of Caldos colony. (TNG episode: "Sub Rosa"; ST reference: Star Charts)
