Bilitrium is a chemical element that was known to Federation science by the 24th century, a rare crystalline material that, combined with an antimatter converter, could become a powerful energy source. (DS9 episode: "Past Prologue")

The element was also capable of being placed in a grenade for use as an explosive. When used in such situations, the weapons leaked anti-protons. (DS9 video game: Crossroads of Time)

There was an abundance of bilitrium on Koltaari, prompting the Romulans to attempt to annex the planet in 2311. (ST - The Lost Era novel: Serpents Among the Ruins)

During the Tzenkethi War, the crew of the USS Okinawa discovered bilitrium in several planets of the Entelior system and attempted to hide it from the Tzenkethi. (ST - Typhon Pact novel: Rough Beasts of Empire)

The planet Naia VII was rich in bilitrium, among other valuable materials. A Starfleet Corps of Engineers mining operation there in 2368 excavated these, which were vital for Starfleet to rebuild its strength following the Battle of Wolf 359. (TNG - Assimilation² comic: "Issue 2")

In 2369, Tahna Los obtained bilitrium from Lursa and B'Etor and attempted to use it to collapse the entrance to the Bajoran wormhole. (DS9 episode: "Past Prologue")

In 2385, Ohalavaru extremists tried to destroy an area of Endalla using bilitrium. (DS9 novel: Sacraments of Fire)
