Birsiba was the homeworld of the Birsibans. They lived peacefully and were an early warp culture by the late 24th century.
In 2373, the Birsibans had not yet made first contact with other sentient species but invented transporter technology. In that year, they inaugurated a global transporter network with four hubs. The system was set to render the Birsiban subway obsolete. (VOY novel: Echoes)
Birsiba was the only planet in the system to develop humanoid life. The sixth planet in the system harbored the beginnings of basic life but could not support humanoid life. Birsiba had at least two continents.
Flora and faunaEdit
Across thousands of parallel universes, Birsiba gave rise to a united and peaceful civilization. In 150 realities, located 2,410 to 2,540 thousand universes to the right of the primary universe, Birsiba had been destroyed. An asteroid belt was all that remained of Birsiba in those few universes.
In an alternate timeline where the global transport network was accidentally powered by a space-time rift, the entire population of Birsiba was shifted one universe to the right every 2.5 hours. This caused the death of more than 300 billion Birsibans when they materialized in a universe where Birsiba had been destroyed thousands of years earlier. Thousands of USS Voyagers, which existed in every second universe, worked together to seal the space-time rift, preventing this chain of events from occurring in the first place. (VOY novel: Echoes)
