The Blood Many or simply the Blood were a warp-capable race of the Sagittarius Star Cluster.
History and specifics[]
The true origins of the Blood are unknown but it is known that they share common ancestry with their rivals, the All Kauld. (TOS - New Earth novels: Challenger, Wagon Train to the Stars) Due to the fact that the Blood homeworld was geologically unstable and was constantly devastated by earthquakes they developed space vessels to travel to other worlds, they reached a planet that regularly came near their homeworld and discovered that it was home to another sentient species, the All Kauld, who refused to share their wealth and resources with them, leading to a war.
Their war consisted in brief periods of skirmishes aboard sub-light vessels followed by peace when the planets got too far apart which resulted in a constant stalemate. The Formless, an extra-dimensional species that had operated in a nearby star system, thought that they could end their eternal cicle of war by giving both species Dynadrive, so that they could expand their horizons but this backfired as the two species instead simply attacked eachother more frequently now that they had advanced space travel.
By the late 23rd century the Blood were on the verge of losing their war but with the arrival of the Federation in the Sagittarius Cluster they sought partnership with the newly established Belle Terre colony which led to the exchange of officers and permanent alliance.
Their alliance with the Federation meant that when James T. Kirk and the USS Enterprise saved the Kauld homeworld from a defective Formless construct the Kauld sought help from the Federation for an affliction that was decimating their space forces and retreated to their homeworld, putting an end to their long war.(TOS - New Earth novel: Challenger)
