Blossom IV was a Federation agricultural colony during the 24th century. Blossom IV was not mineral rich, and its two hundred thousand inhabitants spent their time tending the rich soil on the planet.

In 2376, Blossom IV was attacked by the large vessel known as The Beast. The colonists managed to get a distress call to the USS Enterprise-E stating that they were being attacked by a large black ball. The Enterprise arrived at Blossom IV within 15 minutes of the distress call being sent, but The Beast was able to kill a thousand colonists and injure thousands more.
