The Bok'Nor-class was a type of older freighter used by the Cardassian Union for transporting ores from ore processing stations. This class was gradually phased out in favor of the Groumall-class freighters as larger stations, such as Terok Nor, were constructed. The reasons stated for retirement was that the Bok'Nor-class were proving inefficient at maintaining a constant rate of turnover when transporting ores from these stations and that the ships were vulnerable from attack by raiders and terrorist groups.
