The Bon Amar trading group were a Bajoran pirate consortium that continued to function by 2370. They were known to raid trading routes and attack Cardassian vessels or Cardassian allied ships in order to pillage for supplies for the Bajoran people. Due to the Federations attempt at making peace with the Cardassian Union, the Bon Amar were a wanted group by Starfleet and it was considered somewhat of an embarrassment that they were not caught.

Ensign Ro Laren had some contacts within the Bon Amar. She offered her contacts to Commander William Riker to help the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) crew's search for Captain Jean-Luc Picard who had been transported into unknown territory by an alien device - in actuality, he had been transported into the past before the Gorn attack on Cestus III. They made use of six of their vessels during the search during the narrow window of time that was available for the search. (TNG novel: Requiem)
