Botulinus is a type of bacterium which produces a poisonous toxin that could cause botulism in humanoid bodies.

After performing an autopsy on Scott Darnell in 2266, USS Enterprise CMO, Doctor Leonard McCoy, used botulinus as an example of fast acting poisons which leave little-or-no-trace in the body. (TOS novelization: The Man Trap)
