Brannik IV was a planet located between Delta IV and Carrea, located in the star system closest to Delta. It was claimed by Delta not long after they achieved interstellar flight, and was the site of a Deltan military base.

The animal species on Brannik IV bore similarity to fossils from Carrea dating from that planet's Oida age, making Brannik IV a world of great scientific curiosity to the Carreon. Access to the planet remained a bone of contention between the two cultures for many years.

In 2380, Delta agreed to allow a heavily-monitored Carreon scientific base to be established on Brannik IV, in exchange for a water reclamation system to replace Delta's failing system. (ST novel: Articles of the Federation)
