Branson was a Starfleet lieutenant assigned as flight controller aboard the USS Enterprise until 2379. Branson was killed by a decompression during battle with Shinzon's Scimitar. (TNG movie & novelization: Star Trek Nemesis)

In an alternate reality, Branson had survived this fate and continued aboard the Enterprise in 2380. (TNG novel: Q & A)
