Brathaw was a Bolian engineer who worked on the SS Xhosa under the command of Kasidy Yates in the 24th century.
In 2372, Brathaw worked with Yates in smuggling goods to the Maquis. After Benjamin Sisko discovered Yates' involvement with the Maquis, Brathaw and the other crewmembers left the Xhosa for a Maquis base while Kasidy returned alone to Deep Space 9. (DS9 episode: "For the Cause")
In 2383, Brathaw was killed when the Xhosa was destroyed by the Typhon Pact. (ST - Typhon Pact novels: Plagues of Night, Raise the Dawn)
